FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
for Regenerative Medicine Therapy
Patients respond very well to just one treatment, in most cases. Depending on the severity of the injury, some patients may benefit from two to three injections over the course of one year.
Stem cell injections are intended to heal and strengthen damaged tissue; pain relief is typically noticed several weeks after the procedure. You will notice ultimate relief approximately two to three months after the entire treatment protocol.
Recovery times do vary, but most patients can expect to see improvement in their pain and mobility within 4 to 6 weeks following treatment. Regenerative medicine cell therapy patients experience speedy recovery and are back to their daily activities quickly
The costs of regenerative therapy procedures depend on the treatment that is right for you. The appropriate procedure and its cost will be discussed prior to scheduling.
Currently this treatment is not covered by most major medical insurance plans. If your condition is a result of a work-related injury and is covered under workers’ compensation, you may be eligible for some regenerative therapies. Often patients are able to use their health savings accounts (HSAs) to pay for their treatment.
There are minor risks associated with stem cell injections including infection, bleeding, or nerve damage. Since you are using your body’s own healing factors, there is no risk of allergic reaction.
What is Regenerative Medicine?
The goal of regenerative medicine is to replace damaged tissue caused by disease, trauma, or congenital problems. While current treatment options focus predominantly on treating the symptoms; regenerative medicine aims to heal. Imagine alleviating your back pain without having to get spine surgery.
Regenerative medicine is effective in restoring damaged tissues and healing injured tissue; not just masking the pain. There is hope for those living in chronic pain as previously untreatable injuries and diseases now have treatment options: Bone Marrow Aspirate (BMA) and Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapies
PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP)
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is concentrated from blood and bone marrow and then used to speed up the body’s natural healing process of musculoskeletal problems. PRP injections are prepared by taking the patient’s own blood and dividing platelets to stimulate and increase the number of reparative cells. A number of disc diseases, nerve inflammation, and damage to the sacroiliac joints have seen improvement with PRP therapy.
